Chapter 2

So everyday Lynn visited me. Then around lunch time on a Thursday. It was a cleaning day and as I was carrying a bunch of supplies I ran into Jacklyn. She turned around. “HA! The animal doesn’t know where to go? Girls should we help her?” both of her friends nodded and with all three of their strength they pushed me down the stairs with all the supplies tumbling on top of me as well. I sat up with blood streaming down my face from my nose. The 3 girls screamed from the sight of blood. Mrs.Biggins walked into the room. “Girls whats all the commotion about?” She asked with a raspy tone. “Ayala is bleeding and it’s gross” all three girls said. “Why is she bleeding?” Mrs.Biggins asked. “Being the clutts she is she fell down the stairs carrying all the supplies I offered to help she just turned away from me.” Jacklyn finished her horrible lie. “Ayala! You scrub! Pick up your mess and go outside and sit in time out!” Mrs.Biggins demanded. “But ma’am with all do respect it’s raining do i haft to go outside?” I asked. “I don’t give a flying pig if it’s raining follow my instructions young lady!” she yelled. So i did as she said and sat in the ran in the timeout corner. I was cold and my hair draped in my face. I felt a hand touch my head. I looked up to see who the hand belonged to. It was Lynn she looked down at me with a concerned expression. “Aya, what’s wrong? and why are you out here in the rain with barely anything on?” she asked. I just cried curled up in a ball in the timeout corner. “Your nose is bleeding.” Lynn pointed it out I honestly forgot it was bleeding. She took out a handkerchief and put it up to my nose. “Blow.” Lynn instructed. So i did as she told me and a pure white piece of cloth that turned full red of blood. I guess that supplies got me harder than i thought. “What happened Aya?” Lynn asked. I looked at her with tears filling my eyes. “I was carrying a-a lot of supplies and these 3 girls were there and I accidently ran into one of them a-and th-they pushed me down the stairs.” My sadness started to choke my words. “Then what happened?..” Lynn asked. “They told a lie to Mrs.Biggins and I had to go sit in the timeout outside…” I finished. “She didn’t even acknowledge your bloody nose..” Lynn raised her voice but quickly lowered again.. She took her jacket off it was thread stitched on the outside but in the inside warm fur was inside of it. She put the jacket on me and scooped me up. I blushed a bit “W-what are you doing?” I stuttered. “I’m going to keep you warm.” she said softly. I wanted to stop her from being so selfless but I decided not to. She made me feel safe… As if she were a mother protecting her young.. She had her red beanie on I guess to keep her ears warm. But she always wears it. It’s been 2 months with Lynn visiting me and today it felt like i had a mom again. As I was about to drift off asleep i felt movement. Lynn was walking with me in her arms. I looked at her while rubbing one eye. “Where are we going?” I asked. I looked at the direction she was taking me and it was back to the orphanage. I looked down in sadness thinking she had enough of me.. However when she walked in through the door of the orphanage. Mrs.Biggins saw Lynn walk in she started the phrase she always does when an adult walks in. “Hello and welcome to The Willow Tree for orphans what little angel would you like today?” She finished and looked at me. “Oh I’m sorry is she causing trouble *gasp* she even took your coat Nicole how dare you?!” Mrs.Biggins yelled. I got scared and hid my face in Lynn’s jacket. “Excuse me but her name is Ayala and I would like to adopt today.” Lynn finished. My heart stopped she’s going to adopt? Well it can’t be me she wouldn’t enjoy me. “Gesundheit to that first comment, and to the second one wonderful now what little angel would you like to take home?” Mrs.Biggins gestured to the children behind her with Jacklyn in the front. “I’ll be taking Ayala please.” Lynn said with a bright smile. “Y-you’ll w-what?” Mrs.Biggins stuttered in her confusion. “I will adopt Ayala today.” Lynn repeated. “You can’t seriously want HER!?” Mrs.Biggins objected. Lynn glared at her and laid 10,000 dollars in cash and laid it in Mrs.Biggins hand. “Now where’s the paperwork?” Lynn asked. Mrs.Biggins with her mouth hanging down wide handed Lynn the paperwork while also taking the money from Lynn for the adoption. Lynn filled a page out and placed me down. “Go pack your things while I finish the paperwork.” She said gently. So i nodded and did as she said. I grabbed the book Roe gave me, the few clothes i had, and my small stuffed animal bunny. Before I could walk out of the girls bedroom Jacklyn stopped me in my tracks with a death glare. “Just because you’re being adopted doesn’t mean you’re anything special. She will come back and leave you here back at the orphanage to watch you ROT.” Jacklyn said mockingly. I walked past her even though she could be right. I walked back down to where Lynn was waiting for me. She stretched her hand out for me to grab it. I grabbed her hand and we walked towards the place I will now call home.
